With the help of a peer-to-peer file sharing programs, a person can search for shared files on the systems of other users through a peer-to-peer network Files of interest can then be downloaded directly from other users on the network. Not only searching the files, but also downloading of files can be accomplished though these programs. There are number of P2P software available in market which makes it difficult for an end user to decide which one is better.   Limewire and Frostwire are two such P2P softwares available.
Both of these softwares are almost similar which can create confusion in the customer’s mind.  Limewire and Frostwire both are java-based program and both uses Gnutella network but there are few differences between the two as well.
Limewire has two version-free and paid whereas Frostwire is free and totally ad-free which is better than the free version of Limewire because it is full of ads. These ads serve as the source of income for Limewire. Also, when compared with free version of Limewire, Frostwire has got many features. Both of them use a node on the network called ultra peers. The more nodes a network have the better results it will provide in terms of search and downloading. While free Limewire contains only 3 ultra peers, Frostwire contains 5 ultra peers which are matched only by the paid version of Limewire. Frostwire is a bit quicker than free Limewire because of this.
Though Limewire provides channel of communication between peers but doesn’t match Frostwire in this feature.  Frostwire have got a group chat feature though which peers can speak to each another. Both of these softwares look almost same. The only difference in looks is in their color pattern –Limewire follow a green-white color pattern while Frostwire follow blue- white color pattern. Also, a user can change Frostwire’s skin to number of different colors colors and shapes. There are lesser tabs on Frostwire than Limewire. Frostwire have got better performance level because of download speed factor which is better than Limewire.

In conclusion, it can be summarized that Frostwire is a better peer—to-peer program than Limewire in terms of  time it takes to load, the way it looks, the kind of search results thrown, downloading speed and few other extra features.  It is true that Limewire also supports these extra features of Frostwire but they are paid. So why pay when you get the same features in the free version of Frostwire.
